The 9.30 Informal Service

What can I expect when I attend the 9.30 service?

You can expect a warm and friendly welcome. This is a more informal gathering in which you should find hope, encouragement and perhaps a challenge. The 9.30 congregation is normally around 300 of all ages.
Each service runs for about one hour and is informal in style. No prior knowledge is assumed, and you won’t be required to say or pray anything that you do not believe.
The heart of each service contains prayers, a reading and teaching from the Bible. There is also a mixture songs mainly of a contemporary nature led by a small band.
Be sure to look for our Welcome Team as you enter: as well as welcoming you, they’ll be able to explain how things work and where to go. Tea, coffee and croissants are served from 9.00.

What happens to the kids?

We have groups for children at church for ages 0-14. Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we sing worship songs together. The children’s team will be on hand to make it clear where and when children need to go to their groups. We have a dedicated team to look after the 0 – 2 year olds who leave the service along with the older children. There is also a dedicated feeding room for nursing mothers and their babies where they are able to listen to the service.
The groups will last for about 40 minutes and the children can expect to have fun playing games, and learning about God in a relevant way.
We operate a “child check in” system to assist with our safeguarding responsibilities. Visitors and newcomers are easily added and welcomed.
Older teens meet prior to the 6.30 service. We also have youth focused groups that meet throughout the week in the evenings.
At our 11.30 and 6.30 services there are no organised groups for children although the older youth meet prior to, and attend, the evening service.

Is there a dress code?

No! Just wear whatever you normally wear. We are very informal with folk wearing anything from shirt and jacket to jeans and a t-shirt.

Will I be made to feel uncomfortable?

Not at all! We will be welcoming, and you will not be forced to do anything you are not comfortable doing. We want you to feel right at home and enjoy the service.
Do join us for a tea or coffee after the service to get to know some people from the church.

I have more questions; how can I get in touch and ask them?

Please feel free to call 0118 9516700 or email the church office with any questions you have and we will be happy to help you.
